Dwayne Hunter

Dwayne is an emerging artist and long-time member of the disability community in Toronto. Dwayne approaches his creative practice as a means through which to explore his interest in landscapes, cities, structures, buildings, and architecture to envision cleaner, healthier cities, as well as the construction process itself involving diggers, cranes, cement trucks, and bulldozers – vehicles that transform environments. He is concerned with issues of accessibility and quality of care in independent living and in his current work focuses on disability rights in and urban planning. Dwayne is very involved in his community and is always looking for new ways to connect with people and create artwork that incites conversations and builds relationships beyond ‘small-talk’.
